Reflective Essay Of Mice And Men

First semester was was filled with the essentials of writing. The things you need to know how to do like using transition words or how to mimic your introduction in your conclusion. Using transition words is a skill we all learn in elementary school, but during first semester we revisited the idea. We improved our vocabulary of transitions and learn the importance of them. So in second semester I knew this was a important thing to use in my writing. One of the pieces that I used them in was my Of Mice and Men essay. Another thing I did in my Of Mice and Men essay was mimic my introduction with my conclusion; my introduction started with a quote and the points of my body paragraphs. Knowing I needed to restate this I keeped it in mind for my conclusion paragraph. Satire being a word I’ve never heard of I had the least exposure of it. One of the things we did to learn about it was read the satire Animal Farm. With this book I learned about what satire was and how it is written. The other thing was poetry and poetic language; in the poetry unit I learned more about poetic language, and how it can be used in more than just poetry. That it’s good to use poetic language in my writing to make it more interesting, but not to use it so much that it drowns out the point of the writing. The last thing was persuasive writing. One of the projects we did with this was the animal farm speech, for this project we learned about parallelism and how to appeal to logic and emotion.
