In lots of situations, the meaning can clearly expressed by using both communication skills. For example, patient felt pain after surgery done and made a complaint to nurse. Everyone may felt pain after surgery done and pain is also a personal feeling which other one cannot measured. So, nurse will only provide painkiller to patient normally as feeling pain was a common case in ward. However, if patient complain about pain with painful, suffering facial expression, nurse may view the pain with seriously than just verbal complaint. After that, nurse may not only gave painkiller but also inform doctor for further treatment. The other common situation in hospital that we need to use both communication is admission. During the admission, we may ask information like reason of admitting, medical history, surgical history, life style, etc. In medical ward, a lot of patients admitted for body check, they usually saying that they had abdominal pain or chest pain. As abdomen or chest can separated into different region. It can be described different problem to the body. One time, I diagnosed a patient is abdominal pain because patient said that he had abdominal pain for one week. But, when I asked him about dietary habit, he said that he loves coffee and two meals a day. I asked him which region feeling pain again and requested him to point it out.
