From the many articles I read I found out extremely important because it had tips on succeeding through electronic communication. It highlighted the importance of running grammar and spell check. The computer does not always catch grammar mistakes, so it would be helpful to have someone you trust look over it. Before sending an email make sure it needs to be sent. Instead of bombarding coworkers with emails you could instead walk to their desk if it is a quick question. When sending emails make sure they are timely, brief and to the point, you want your coworkers to be able to respond promptly and know what you are trying to say without reading in between the lines. It is important for all employees to remember that emails and anything sent via social media is public information. Anyone can screenshot it and share with whomever they please. Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric and Pepsi says “discipline in private and praise in public. Employees should not be praised through emails, but never disciplined through social media. ”. It is a different workplace than our parents grew up in. There are always new ways of communication we need to get to them before they get too far ahead of us. A new generation of communication technologies are upon us. The internet and electronic communication has the ability to receive large amounts of information quickly to individuals and workgroups. It can get large amounts of data to people throughout the country in a matter of seconds. It is important not to have technology completely change in a more human way of working, but to evolve technology to make a new way of working more humans. This is saying we need to use technology to its benefits and make it more beneficial for the workplace. Collaboration has taken new forms to xdrives, google docs when employees can work on them at the same time. Over share screen data and chat over video camera from anywhere in the world at the same time. It is no longer just sitting in a room tossing out ideas. Some people believe that these meeting are not working as well as old fashioned meetings in person.
