Companies have literature with many different ideas about how to motivate and help keep morale up. This make it very apparent just how important being able to positively motivate is and that with different ways of motivating can play such a key role. “What inspires employees to provide excellent service, market a company’s products effectively, or achieve the goals set for them? Answering this question is of utmost importance if we are to understand and manage the work behavior of our peers, subordinates, and even supervisors.” (Pink 2012) Company’s within an organization is generally broken down into contain groups of different members, these different groups all work towards a goal and try to keeping the beliefs for the company. Individuals that have a high need for power need to have power or influence over other and they want to have the power to control environments. Having the high need for power is in fact a destructive factor in a relationship with others. This is because they seek out power from others to fulfill their own good. High need for power can manifests in to an altruistic form which can change the way things are done so that they have a more positive negotiation for resources in one’s department, which has the tends to lead to a positive outcome. The need for power is seen as an ideal trait for having an effective manager or leader.
The theory of acquired needs implication important that helps the understanding of the needs for employees. A manager needs to have a general understanding of the dominant needs of the employees under them in order to help motivate them. People that have the high need for affiliation will generally have the motivation to gain the approval of their manager and peers as to where the high need for achievement is more prone to respond better to having goals set in front of them. Lastly the high need for power employees tend to try to get influence over the people they work
