The right to petition is important to the United States because without it angering citizens, freedom of speech protects everyone from being able to express themselves freely. Freedom of press is meant to publish and distribute speech. Also, freedom of assembly is made to make certain that colonist would not be able to instigate a revolutionary movement. This amendment guarantees the rights of the privileges that we use to conduct our everyday lives such as, writing or reading what we want. The second amendment was passed by congress on September 25, 1789 and ratified on December 15, 1791. The Bill of Rights second amendment states, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The significance of the second amendment is that is keeps the government from being able to impose tyranny. Also, gives people the right to protect themselves without the government being able to take the right to own weapons as in guns.
