The Hippocratic Oath is one of the oldest binding documents in history. Hippocratic Oath was first promulgated in 400 BC. Since then it became mandatory to take this oath for any medical professional who practices medicine. The Oath of Hippocrates, holds the American Medical Association 's Code of Medical Ethics, has remained in Western civilization as an expression of ideal conduct for the physician (Tyson, 2001). Its principles are held sacred by doctors to this day such as treat the sick to the best of one 's ability, preserve patient privacy, teach the secrets of medicine to the next generation, and so on. Physicians, as other healthcare providers as well, must take all the precautions necessary to keep all patient information safe from release. Today, healthcare organization are ruled by laws and policies that protect patient’s rights and confidentiality. Patient confidentiality is the most important core duty in healthcare because it is an ethical duty for physicians, protects patients’ rights, and any access to medical information and records by third parties is legally restricted. Breaches of health information can have serious personal and reputational consequences for both patients and physicians without mentioning a financial and organizational impact. Maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of the health information is a responsibility of all health care providers, and it is a vital component to the patient-physicians
