The “ASEAN Way”, the guiding principle of the ASEAN region, is a unique mechanism that sees ASEAN Member States (ASEAN Member States) operates on the basis of “informality, “non-interference” in domestic matters of other countries, and consensus-building among members (Koga, 2010). The principle is the original core foundation of the relationship between ASEAN Member States, and was first lined out in the Bangkok Declaration, issued in 1976, developed as a conflict management of mechanism.

During the 13th ASEAN Summit held in Singapore on 20 November 2007, ASEAN leaders adopted the ASEAN Economic Blueprint for the ASEAN Economic Community., and ambitious undertaking to say the least. The ASEAN Economic Community, with its ultimate goal of economic integration, has been launched in 2015 after the ASEAN community worked together on shared goals and aspirations.
