Those devices are horrible for a child’s early development due to how they don't necessarily teach much other than how to tap and type, which you would obviously learn later in school. Instead, you could learn how to climb a tree, find certain berries, and even how to interact with others in the real world. In fact, I always hear about how today’s youth are much more incapable with surviving on their own or just having proper “street-smarts.” It is like all of this technology is only infecting the youth population, instead of helping…

Technology has given us the power to change and control how people are able to learn. The increase of production in technology (such as computers and tablets), has allowed universal access for the public, instead of an elite few. Due to this, technology has easily been introduced to children through their families; this has changed our children’s lives in the ways that they interact, learn, and play. In the past, we would see kids fuel their imagination through their own form of play, pretending that sticks were swords as they fought imaginary dragons. Now we may see kids creating something on a tablet to show their friends, such as a cool video or art project they may not have been able to create otherwise.…

Although young children’s screen time should be limited, it should be provided because it can help them gain certain skills before Kindergarten. Children, ages three to five years old, can gain social and language skills when utilizing technology because not only should they be interacting with an adult who is guiding them through the process, but also with other children to share ideas and help one another. According to Lyons and Tredwell (as cited in Simon & McManis, 2013), “preschool children using touch tablets were cooperative and fostered social skills rather than isolated play” (p. 2). McManis and Gunnewig (2012), stated that “adult guidance for young children using computers is associated with an increases in abstract reasoning, planning…

“Our children’s digital lives are turning them into much different creatures from us and not necessarily for the better” (Hatch, 2011). Children are geniuses when it comes to using different types of technology because they are constantly on it.
