With technology increasing and becoming more readily at hand, effective use of this equipment will be needed. Not just to display text, but to use the equipment’s full range of capabilities and potential through videos, interactive learning & slideshows, music and multiple visual components. All of which can be done with new smartboards and interactive white boards which are becoming more commonplace in the modern day classroom. Tablets and laptops are rapidly becoming a useful piece of teaching technology and should be embraced for the sheer amount of flexibility they can offer in a teaching environment. It is that by using multimodal literacy in conjunction with these new tools which allow us to display information more readily and in dynamic forms which students will better learn from. Students need to learn in an environment as stimulating and interactive as the real world, development should come from the want to learn and the curiosity in a subject, technology allows us to engage people in these ways (Lamb & Johnson, 2006). With the stress that is put on and the upcoming necessity, that is innovation, flexible ways of learning are on the rise. Promoting critical thinking and analysis of information and using this to problem solve, how to apply their knowledge rather than recite content (Barr, Sunday, October 19th, 2014). Multimodal literacy promotes analysis of content through different forms of information, and how this information can later be relayed, elaborated upon, or explained through different means of presentation.
