Personal Reflection On My Study Strategy Exam

Improved Essays
My previous exam grades prior to the study strategy project were an eighty and a ninety-six. I received a ninety-six on this test as well. In this case, the project did not help or hurt me, according to the numbers. I honestly did not feel too strongly about my performance on this exam, so I am happy with the grade I received. I believe I got those particular results because I chose study strategies that I presently already use, I just performed them more meticulously and more than once. To be honest, I felt like I was stressing too much about completing the assignments for the strategy project that I did not have much time to study. I felt like I was putting more time in perfecting the project than I spent on actually reviewing the material. …show more content…
These strategies were all relatively helpful when studying for my exam, some more than others. I think the flash cards helped me because there are several terms with definitions we must memorize to know the context of the situation in Economics. Flash cards have always been my go-to method of studying, but I used to just memorize the definitions. I understood and remembered the material much better by re-wording the definitions into my own words. I think the active note-taking was effective because I was listening, comprehending, and translating the material into my own words. This stimulated my thinking to add this information into my long-term memory. I had never used the Cornell note-taking method before this project, and I think I will use it from now on because it is a great way to organize my notes. I think the practice problems were very useful because there are several graphs and calculations you must know how to read and perform to get the correct answer. The practice problems provided extra preparation for what kinds of graphs and calculations I would encounter on the exam. I think the practice quiz was very helpful because it acted as a sample preview of the exam. The practice quiz allowed me to practice the kinds of multiple choice questions I would encounter on the

TMA 07: Critical Review AA100 The Arts Past and Present was my first module with the Open University which has been a massive learning curve both in studying and being disciplined with my time to study. Over the months of studying there have been modules which I assumed I would thoroughly enjoy and modules which I assumed I would dislike, however this thinking has turned out to be the complete opposite. Use of my study time is something that I have found challenging at times as the modules have progressed and increased in difficulty. I have also found that you need to be especially self-motived and disciplined when completing each module.…

University life exposed me to a very externalised culture. As Thomas Moore, author of Care of the Soul said, ”We are constantly pulled outside ourselves—by other people, by the media, and by the demands of daily life. As a consequence, we tend to devote very little time to ourselves.”…

This book contained practice quizzes for the written half of the test, but more importantly it included step by step directions on how the skills were to be done. It also bolded certain steps. The bolded steps meant that if that step was skipped during the skills test, you would automatically fail. When practicing these steps, I would not only practice them over and over, I would write them with different wording many times. This method of memorization helped me to remember them in the correct order when it was test…

When I considered taking WRTG 101 this semester I was unsure how much it would affect my writing style. I have always had issues with the strength of my writing and my overall writing style. After taking this class I have an improved overall understanding of the writing process and how to apply it in different writing situations. Run on Sentences were a concern before I took the class, however now I have a much better understanding of proper sentence structures.…

Psychology so far hasn’t been too bad so far during the semester. I thought at the beginning this class would most likely have been by far one of the most challenging classes I have taken coming from have taken only some AP courses and Honors classes during high school. Currently I am sitting at an 93.1% (270/290 points) in the class, which isn’t what I want to be at which is at least a 95%, but I can build on that and improve my scores throughout the semester. Coming into the class, I looked at the point breakdown from the syllabus and calculated mentally what I would need to get in each category to maintain an A, but also have an A by when the final comes so I wouldn’t have to take the final exam. Ultimately that is my goal for this course,…

Strengthening the student toolbox by Dunlosky describes multiple strategies that students can use to learn certain amounts of information that the students have to know in a class and in turn strategies on how teachers can teach their students. These strategies were as follows for students and teachers being the good; practice testing, disturbed practice, interleaved practice, elaborative interrogation, self-explanation, and the bad; rereading, highlighting, summarization, keyword mnemonic and imagery for text. All of these strategies are and can be used by students and helped or hindered along by their teachers, some more than others. In my high school years I received multiple instructions to not cram study for a test and to space out studying for it in the days leading up to the test.…

There are two positive behavior types that occur in an organization that encompass an individual’s job performance: task performance behavior and citizenship behavior. Task performance can be defined as the effectiveness in which individual perform activities that contribute to organization’s technical process, whereas, citizenship behavior is voluntary employee activities that contribute to the organization by improving the overall quality of the work setting. I initially thought that I would have a high level of citizenship behavior, but it turns out I am not as friendly and helpful as I believed myself to be. The result from the “Helping” assessment from chapter 2 shows that I have a low level of helping behavior with a total score of 35.…
