Wilson Middle School is working diligently to improve students reading comprehension. In doing so, Wilson requires students to read one hundred and seventy pages independently a week, and language arts classes are required to do a minimum of one novel per unit. Good reading comprehension comes only with practice. The basic aspects of reading, such as word recognition, phonetics and fluency, can be mastered in just a few years (Improving).
