The PTA in my old elementary school hosted a movie night and that’s where I completed my service hours. Woodie and I, along with others, sold concessions on that Friday night. My mom contacted Ms. Amy, the head of the Bush HIll PTA, to see if she needed any help for this upcoming event. She responded quickly stating she could use all the help she could get. We came early to help set up. Students and parents started filling the cafeteria and we began to work. We handed out Chick Fil A sandwiches and candy. We directed them where to pay or where to find condiments. After things quieted down and the movie started, we began refilling pizza, recycling empty boxes of candy and opening new ones. That came into play as we were selling concessions. Although we weren’t dealing with the money, we often had to help the younger students see what they could afford with the money they had on hand. We also had to make sure we didn’t run out of anything and order more of something if it was selling fast. It was a simple task, but as the lines got longer and the more impatient students and parents got, that simple task became stressful. If we didn’t learn those economic skills, I don’t know how I would’ve survived that
