We did this to show the segregation in a community. Still images if when you perform 3 images ( in this case with speech ) to communicate a story. In our still images we used proxemics and facial expression to portray our feelings. Our first still image was on a bus of the bus and white sitting at the front of the bus. The separation between the races highlights the proxemics portraying separation in the community . In the middle scene it show how one of the white people try to accept the black, however both other white people are really disgusted. This also portrays that many people want to accept the different race but are too scared as they may become judged. The use of facial expressions showed the pure disgust that the white people had towards the black man and how the white people didn 't want to be associated in anyway with him.. this shows a reflection also on the society they are involved with and what beliefs they would have in order to show such passion in hating the black people. Throughout this piece we tried to interpret different views on people. We also used lighting to show the separation by placing a spotlight onto the black man which also highlighted how different and lonely he was towards the white people. By using a light we also created a dramatic approach to the scene which creates it to be more enticing to the watcher. Some people wanted to accept the black community and some didn’t want to associate …show more content…
The role play was done to communicate that not only is there racial segregation but many other types too. Such as; ageism. In our group we communicated ageism through taking advantage of an old lady in a shop. While the old lady came in and asked for the wine she was charged more than a young man that came in and bought the same wine. As the older lady walked into the shop the shop keepers pitch was lower and the tone became more strict as she asked why the wine was at a high price. This is to show that by being gentle and considerate the shopkeeper thinks he can make more profit from an old lady. However by being sure of his pricing he can carry out the plan more successfully. The comparison happens in the role play when the younger man walks into the shop and the shopkeeper just acts like he doesn’t care. This is shown through his use of speech and gesture as he uses words such as, ‘mate’ and slouches. It doesn’t seem like he believes he would be able to take advantage of him so he doesn’t care. We were trying to communicate to the audience that many people feel they can get what they want through more vunerable people just by acting kind. It also shows the views that we have on younger and older people. We see younger people as more aware of what 's happening. By doing this and showing how different ages are treated and comparing them shows ageism. We were trying to show that people treat a variety of ages differently
