Fashion design, depending on whether you work alone or with a company, has many different professions laced into it. For example, being a self driven designer can call for really good social skills. Not to mention all of the knowledge in technology and study in business you will need. Without these you can not get any bigger as a brand name. Owning yourself means you must study everything from cloth to marketing. Taking courses in these areas are crucial for the success of your business. After growing your business you may hire people to do manage the marketing and presentation to the public for you. Now this many not be the case for people who work with a company. Having a company do the business for you is good but knowing how to use technology and having social skills is still important when being interviewed for a job. As you work, the technology may advance and having a basic understanding at how everything works is good to have. Also, knowing the marketing area can come in handy when you want to rank up and play a more important part in the stitch work of the fashion industry. Maybe you are not into fashion design at all but you wish to manage for big brand names and top industries like Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, or Tommy Hilfiger. This works the same way. During college I will learn many key concepts such as sewing/hemming, how to present my designs, how to use software to design, marketing, about textiles, clothing construction and finally how to be confident with my designs (not a course but it is still learned as you go along). In the end, science is very important to the advancement of
