The running records data I collected showed when reading Freckle Juice, student one and three are reading at their independent reading level and student two was reading at an instructional level. The objective for independent 5.1 was to determine students reading levels and to become familiar with the process of giving a running record.
The reading assessment I chose to for indicator 5.1 is called miscue analysis running records. During independent reading block, I asked three third grade students to read a chapter from Freckle Juice. During the assessment, the role of the teacher is to listen to the reading and take notes. The teacher does not make any comments regarding the students reading. Once students are done reading, they answer a few quick reading comprehension questions. The teacher then utilizes the information from the analysis to determine the students independent grade level and instructional level
