At this point in the story he has gone through a lot with figuring out his identity, one part of his identity is religion. When it comes to religion, he questions it and tries to see if he can be a believer himself. A quote to describe this is, “ I did not actually believe in ghosts, but I had been taught that there was God… and if there was a God, then surely there must be ghosts”,(Wright, 93). This quote explains Richard’s view on the belief he has been taught through and his life. This stage in his life he seems to question every belief people have about religion.
