One can say that the dead seed is in the hands of God, being observed and shaped well. Noticing the act of a pregnant mother who “listens” to the unborn and developing child in her womb, I questioned a married friend what it meant by such an act for pregnant mothers to do that? She revealed that a mother can listen to the heartbeat and hiccups of a child, and of course feel the kick inside her. I find this relative to the God who listens to us while we are still taking shape in the womb of the circumstances that we have been placed in, to be shaped in our faith. On another level, using my own praying experience as an example, I can state that, though I am aware that prayer is a communication between me and God, the human part of me forgot that talking to God means that God is “listening” to what I am saying in the prayer. As one who was praying, I forgot another part of the reality that when someone is listening to someone, it means they are present with them physically or in spirit, and are receiving them with due love and respect, without a judgmental eye or attitude. Using my own call narration as an example, and making use of the metaphorical language, one can say that the deed seed inside the Earth, the womb is baptized while it is being conceived. To explain this, one can say that baptism requires, full immersion in water, which the fetus receives inside the dark womb.
