Being enrolled in High School is a welcoming environment with mixed feelings that mold us for college because of how it offers leadership roles, social life activities, and a college-life experience.
One setback I encountered that was a major negative influence towards work, education, or life in High School was procrastination. If procrastination were not to be a part of one of my bad behavioral patterns, would motivation, distraction, and depressions have a role to play in my life or education? Depression, if prolonged can have any shorts and long-term effects on your mental health. Furthermore, High School transforms you to have a better college-life experience by its high demand of work, independence, and different types of teachers. The level of work in high school is meant to brace you for college type classes. I learned how to prioritize over a long term- there was time to play and study. I believe I personally developed because of how it built my responsibilities, self-confidence and also feelings of accomplishments. All these have impacted my life in a long term, as most of them occur in my college life today. Being independent hast its benefits and challenges. Honestly, I learned this trait of independence from my mum. She gave me lessons on how to be firm and independent when I was child. The quarrels, disagreements eventually turned me out to be an independent person. It made me personally independent, which boosted my confidence in college; you are away from your parents. It also helped me be more prepared to take actions without getting permission from someone else. One thing I also realized about being independent in High School that would help in college is that it opens your mind to take bigger risks that come with bigger rewards. There is a huge difference between college professors and high school teachers. One major difference between them is that, in college, professors expect students to point out important notes during class whereas in high school, teachers write notes for students to jot down. This was a challenge for me in college because I was not used to this action. This led to average results and understanding on topics being discussed in class. Contrary to my difficulties, in college, note taking gives the students the responsibility to take notes.
