It is, “the study of transactions between individuals and their physical settings” (Gifford, 2007).It is composed of six elements: attention, cognitive maps, preferred environments, environmental stress and coping, participation, and conservation. Giving feedback to employees about their performance increases their commitment. This concept has led to the development of landscape or open offices. These are offices are constructed for working activities that are both computerized and paper based, in large rooms. The offices of persons in higher positions are now only auditorily separated. Open spaces were designed with the concept that stronger supervision will lead to netter performance by employees. This was a valid statement until recent studies proved otherwise; attention was the key to efficiency (Peczöli & Szabó, 1999). These concepts are seldom practiced in Grenada.
We have spoken on how an office should be designed for maximum production. Now we shall move on to the ideal physical working conditions. The minimum temperature in the workplace should be 16 degrees Celsius or 13 degrees Celsius if the job entails a large amount of physical effort. A major one is ethnic and sexual harassment. Ethnic harassment takes the form of the following: racial comments and jokes that are demeaning, racial name calling and slurs, and remarks about national origin or race that are derogatory. On the other hand, sexual harassment occurs because of the discrepancy in power; it not only occurs with women, but also with men. These two variables result in a wide array of negative effects: absenteeism and turnover rates increases, it disrupts production and, it affects employee morals. It also affects the reputation of the business and it can put the company at expense (attorney fees if the case goes to
