Formed in 1890, the Australian Labor Party’s commitment is to promote fairness at work, provide access to quality education no matter what a person’s circumstances, and a firm belief that we should all have the same opportunities in life no matter what we do. The Liberal Party was formed from a merger between the Protectionist and Free Trade parties in 1910. They believe in inalienable rights and freedoms of all peoples, work towards a lean government that minimizes interference in our daily lives, and maximizes individual and private sector initiative. In 1920, eleven parliament members, who supported the objectives of the Australian Farmers’ Federal Organization, unanimously agreed to form an independent political party. Some of their priorities included building stringer regional economies and secure communities, delivering opportunity and prosperity for all regional Australians, and ensuring a sustainable environment. Created in 1922, the Australian Greens party believes that they should promote meaningful and smart solutions to ensure future generations of Australians have clean air, clean water, and clean soil.
