The lungs are important part of our bodies. These lungs represent organs that filled with air. They locate in each side of the chest. A thin tissue layer covers the lungs; this tissue is called the pleura. The importance of lungs is to inhale the air and exhale it (1). In order to protect our lungs, we have to learn how our lungs work. First of all, we breathe the air by the nose or the mouth, then drawn down through the throat into the windpipe (trachea). Tracheasplits out into two tubes which called bronchi that divided into 15-25 airways called bronchioles(2), until the air reaches alveoli that are small sacs in which air exchange. Inside the alveoli, air passes through paper- thin wall to small blood vessels (capillaries). After …show more content…
This high rate of growth can cause a cancerous tumor which can be either benign or malignant. Benign tumor is not as bad as malignant tumor and can be treated easily by removing it by surgical procedure. Malignant tumors are the most bad type of tumors and the most dangerous and not easily treated. Benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body, but malignant tumors spread to other parts of the body. There are many factors the can cause lung cancer but the most common factor is tobacco. Tobacco is responsible for 80-90% of lung cancer's cases. Also, passive smoke is one of the factors that cause lung cancer. About 10-20% of cases occur in those who do not smoke. Genetic factors also can cause lung cancer. Other factors are toxic gases, combustion of some products, some metals and ionizing radiation. Lung cancer has two types: first, small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Some of the symptoms of lung cancer are coughing ( sometimes coughing blood ), breathing difficulties, pain in the chest, headache and weight loss. The treatment of lung cancer depends on the its type. If the patient has SCLC, he or she might be treated by chemotherapy and patients with NSCLC can be treated with chemotherapy, surgery or …show more content…
Before antibiotics had discovered, one third of the people who had Pneumonitis die(13) . Nowadays, three millions people in USA get Pneumonia(13). Pneumonia has considered as the sixth most common cause of death (13). When someone has the disease and coughs or sneezes, germs then spread through the air(13). The infection can happen by breathing organelles that causes the disease (13). Some symptoms that appear on most of the patients who has the disease are cold, fever, coughing with sputum (sometimes with blood) and shortness in breathing (13). To diagnose Pneumonia, doctor might suspect the disease when he or she checks the patient chest by stethoscope (13). When the doctor hears voice of difficult breathing or weakness in breathing he or she will ask the patient to do x-ray to confirm whether the patient has it or not(13) . Another way to diagnose Pneumonitis is by checking sputum or by endoscopic bronchial in which the doctor insert a thin tube into the nose and then the doctor can check the airway directly(13)
