Curriculum standards for young children are changing so quickly that I feel it’s vital for young children to learn to count to numbers as high as twenty, I feel this is a vital part of their development …show more content…
The children saw themselves as early educators and other community leaders they began to dress up in costumes and pretend as though they were different community leaders as well as teachers and were talking to me like I was the student showing me how to count some of the students joked about sitting me in the corner if I didn’t answer their question right. The children saw themselves as unique and special. They described counting the soldiers in the jar as fun and entertaining and by the end of the lesson the children were having fun teaching each other to count. I was so excited to see the children learning in a fun and loving conducive environment the children were practically counting everything in the room once the activity

Throughout the Capstone Project, I have learned that college is expensive and being an Early Childhood Educator might be something I really want to be. It would be better for me to go to a two-year technical school, and then transfer to a four-year college. This process would allow me to save money so that I will not be paying student loans for many years. I have learned what it takes to become a teacher, and I am highly interested. The characteristics a teacher must have are patience, self-control, creativity, and leadership skills.…

If you ask me whether or not I like children, my answer, given grudgingly, would always be yes. That’s not to say I have any particular dislike for them, but an hour of trying to teach them what the number 11 is when they try to count on their fingers can only be described as incredibly tiring. “Come on you guys, 11 is not the number 1”, I told them gently. It would have been another mind-numbing hour had one of the fellow student-helpers not suggested I use blocks instead. We made immediate progress from that point.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

My goal is to create activities that encourage a child to identify what the lesson involves, discuss openly the child’s perspective, deduce the content of the lesson, and apply the knowledge learned. I also believe that all children need the opportunity to make their own choices, even the choice to participate in learning. With this in mind, planning activities to keep the children engaged is of great importance to me.…

As infants’ curriculum is influenced by a variety of factors, it is important for professionals to remember that a family’s culture is extremely important to remember when developing an appropriate curriculum, in which case you want to make sure you are not going against their beliefs but then again you are enhancing an infant’s development in all appropriate manners. An example would be that of reading books that are Christian based and the family is of two faiths. When in doubt of a curriculum to teach remember “Your job is to be sensitive to cultural diversity, seek additional information when values or beliefs clash and facilitate open conversations between and among family members” (Swim, 2017, p.214) A second factor in which an infant’s…
