I have learned that many of the options voiced by my officers are outstanding. Also, empowering my officers to voice their suggestions to certain incidents can bring about multiple options to fix a problem. Like the saying goes, "there's multiple ways to skin a cat." On a certain situation, an officers' recommendation helped me avoid an impending bad situation. For example, there was one volatile situation with a stolen vehicle that had dark tinted windows preventing us from looking inside the car. After using a FLIR (device used to detect a heat source) inside the vehicle, it revealed there was heat emanating from inside the car. One of my officers suggested we break the windows out with a bang pole (25 foot pole that has the capability of breaking glass from a distance), thus preventing our officers from getting too close to the vehicle where there could be a potential armed suspect inside. Using the officer's suggestion, we were able to breach the vehicle by breaking the car windows without endangering an officers safety. I have always been taught to respect everyone and treat those like you want to be treated. Integrity is always telling the truth. If I'm truthful with my actions, then trust can be delivered and accepted when dealing with your employees. Service is what we provide as a police officer. By doing the best service possible, we can be proud of what we've accomplished on a day to day basis.
