Essay On Lab Safety Rules

A good portion of the beginning of the school year in my classroom was spent on lab safety rules and procedure. I made it a priority to spend a lot of time reviewing lab safety they have had prior to seventh grade and what I wanted them to know for this year. We spent two days the first week of school learning and reviewing lab safety rules and procedures. Each student was read and shown an official list of lab safety rules that apply to seventh grade science. Each of the rules and procedure was demonstrated through scenarios that students might come across in a lab situation. As a project was assigned at the end of that first week of school, that each student had to design a Lab Safety Meme to demonstrate one of our science class lab safety rules. What I wanted to originally do was post the lab safety memes as visual reminders of rules. However, my mistake was I gave students the choice of completing the lab safety meme in electronic form or hard copy form. Majority of student turned in the assignment electronically, so I have not had the time to print all those off to post in the classroom. After our two- day review of lab safety, each student was given a lab safety agreement form for them and their parents to sign. They were given a due date to return by, which was the same day their syllabus was to be returned. I have every seventh grade student regardless of what intervention he or she might have. It also did not matter if they transferred periods, because every period had the same instruction and same grade level curriculum.
