According to the researcher’s observation, there are around xxxx of photos that had been uploaded to Instagram per second in every single day. (Internet Live Statistics, 2017). These can be the proof that Instagram has playing an important role in many people’s daily lives. Yet, there have some effect on individual by using Instagram. Self-esteem is one of the effect on the Instagram users. Normally, self-esteem is represent to the people’s own appearance, beliefs, sentiments and behaviours. Selfie trend and society expectations on the body’s appearance of female and male may lead to the women and men need to get more attention from the social media by the “likes” or “following” to gain their own self-esteem. “Selfies”, the new social phenomenon among the society. It refer to self-portrait style photographs. The word of selfie be named at Oxford Dictionaries at 2013. This is refer to the selfie trend that are starting from 2013 onward. It becomes a social importance to the researcher and scholar is because of selfies might help the Instagram users to display their identities in physical or body-centric manner. Selfie can also show the level of confidence for the Instagram users unintendedly by focusing on physical form. When the frequency of selfies taken and posted to Instagram are high, it may help to identify the selfie trend is tied to larger issues of body image for young women. (Wagner, Aguirre, Sumner, 2016) Physical appearance, self-esteem and body image will become important to the overall self-image for young women. These physical and emotional changes could impact critical outcomes on overall self-esteem (Gupta, 2011) Therefore, nowadays selfie trend will affect both female and male body image
