Watson’s theory is based on concepts such as practice of kindness, authentic presence, and cultivation of spiritual practice, creating a caring environment, and allowing for unexpected life events (Billings & Halstead, 2011). Caring for the patients’ needs to become a part of every nurse’s calling. Aultman College promotes caring not only in the student’s actions, but also in the curriculum that they have chosen as part of their design. A couple of classes that speaks to caring is Care of Culturally Diverse Populations, Gerontology, Community, Nursing Success. The classes listed all centers around the caring attitude of the nurse, and the most common issues in today’s society. The last in the list is centered around the nurse themselves, and includes the health of the nurse, or as better put, the nurse who is caring about their own
