Verbal and written communication is important in this career because designers present ideas and designs to colleagues and clients and have group discussions daily. Industrial designers also work with other specialists. A few other traits that are significant to have in this career are hand eye coordination, a creative imagination and artistic ability. These qualities are important to have because industrial designers often sketch out their plans and ideas, along with creating blueprints, visuals, and designing products on a computer. The skills needed to become an industrial designer are computer skills, interpersonal skills, artistic ability, mechanical and problem solving skills. These help with interacting with peers, manufacturing the product and creating the product while in its first stages. The academic courses needed to be taken to become an industrial designer are english composition, communications math and physics.
