Who Is Abraham Lincoln A Hero

All throughout the United States of America, you will come across many statues of great people, not only Americans but people who have in some way had a lasting effect on America for the better. There isn’t anything specific anyone has to do to be given such a great honor, in my opinion, of having yourself displayed as a statue because of the things you did, not only for yourself but for the people who look up to you for guidance and reassurance. He may have one of the greatest statues in the world with the Lincoln Memorial however, Abraham Lincoln in my eyes defiantly deserves to be honored at the highest possible level. Also you have Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Although not every great person can be appreciated with a statue of themselves, those who do are some of the most influential people in regards to what they did. Abraham Lincoln is mostly known for freeing the slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation. However, his greatness is not defined by only one action, he did many things and the way he viewed life is what made him who we remember him for. Only being officially inaugurated for about a month, the Civil War broke out to determine the survival of the Union or the independence of the Confederacy.
