Why are Veterans America's heroes. Veterans do so much for us and our nation, risking their lives and leaving their families so we can keep ours. There are approximately 22 million veterans living in the U.S. today, that is around 7.3% of all living Americans today. Veterans also make up 12% of the homeless adults, which is very sad because they fought so hard in the war for this country and we repay them with no homes, food, or water. In the war there are many things you risk.…

It is important to honor our veterans because they risked their lives for our freedom. Without them, we wouldn’t have won a lot of wars. Luckily, Congress made Armistice Day a national holiday so we have a set day to celebrate our veterans. Then in 1954 President Eisenhower changed it to veteran’s day to honor all veterans, rather than just from WW1. This is why it’s important to honor our veterans.…

A veteran to me is a patriotic, unselfish, brave, and courageous person, who would sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect our nation. As Jeff Miller once said, “The willingness of America’s Veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Veterans from every country have served throughout many wars. They have put their blood, sweat, and effort into doing the right and beneficial thing for their nation. Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation.…

Most people think of Veterans Day as a day off from school or work, well they are wrong. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S Military Veterans. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also the anniversary of the end of World War I (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went to effect.) Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

Veterans are a group of people that write a blank check totaling their life to the government. They fight to defend our country and every American citizen. Then when their service is done they come home to be unnerved and underappreciated. Veterans are: mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and friends. The main thing we should do is make them known to others, so they know that we are there for them and let them know their service is more than appreciated, and we should let them know that and not let them be forgotten.…
