Kachor job is to sit down with the family and make sure that they are comprehend all the services they offer. They offer a rehabilitation, out patient services, and recreational therapy and therapeutic. This specific nursing home encourages the recovery and have a high percentage of success rate in a certain period of time. These are for the patient to understand that the facility has the best interest in them and their families.
Heartland Health Care Center is a for profit agency which provides many residential care, whether that is short or long-term. That includes care of nursing home, dementia, assisted and independent living. Considering how big the facility is with locations around the United States there has to be a funding source. According to Kachor the funding sources are Medicare, Medicaid, insurances and private payment. Every social worker has their ups and downs at their agency and difficult challenges one must face. During the interview she did not hesitate to answer what was the agencies biggest challenge and from what she said I could understand why. There is no time in the day where she can finish all of her paperwork. Everything gets backed up and put on halt for another day which repeatedly happens. Government regulations one must keep up, so having to always stay on top of it can be hectic considering they change so often. The one thing she wished she could change was the amount of face-to-face time she gets with her patients. Because there are many patients that are in for short and long-term, she does not have time to personally get to know them as must as she would like.
After my experience and interviewing Sara Kachor at Heartland Health Care Center, I could see myself working at a care center helping others. Knowing that a social worker will always be a step behind in paper work is a little nerve-racking yet it comes with any position in the field.
