Communication is an essential part of our daily interaction. We start communicating from a very young age but have had challenges express our thoughts and ideas. We all have experience miscommunication which have put us in problems and thought us a lesson. Communication is a process that must be followed to achieve our interaction goal and increase our development opportunities. In the analyses below I have presented factual information of studies that have revealed the importance of good communication in general. Also, I have evaluated the communication process using the 8 phases required to successfully get an effective message across. Miscommunication can be disastrous and have a negative impact on our life, especially in our relationships, working environment and education. Poor communication in a relationship can be toxic and often ends in failure. In a relationship survey, 83% of premarital counselor experts expressed that, “poor communication is the #1 reason for couples to split up” ( Gottman and Jackson, 2008). We often hear about famous musicians’ that frequently married and divorce within month’s even weeks and these musicians repeatedly blame their marriage failure to lack of communication due to their busy schedules. If we don’t know to communicate effectively we can hurt our love ones by using the wrong words, tone and expression to express ourselves thus making our partner feel unappreciated which leads to relationship failure. We need good communication skills in everything we do especially in the working environment; if we lack communication at the work place it can become unproductive and time consuming. For instance, if managers and employees cannot communicate effectively to get the work completed in time, the organization goals and objectives will not be achieved causing the business to lose valuable time and money which will lead the business to collapse. For instance, just a few weeks ago I experience the breakdown of communication whereby, I had a phone being fixed at Cellular World in Belize City. My girlfriend that lives in Belize City was coming to Belmopan for a work meeting. So I asked her to do me the favor, get the phone for me and drop it off, but she didn’t know where I live. So I explained to her that I will meet her by Gallardo’s store and I will be outside waiting. I had an idea but I was not clear enough in sharing that idea of which Gallardo store I was to be met, there are two Gallardo establishments in this location the Gallardo’s hardware in Belmopan and the Gallardo’s Gas Station in Roaring Creek Village. I shared the information of my location by an electronic written text message; I thought a text message would have been better because I felt that if she forgot, she could have read the message over and get a better understanding. However, I didn’t encode it correctly because I forgot to specify the area where I was to be found by Gallardo Gas station in Roaring Creek and not just Gallardo store. She received and responded to the messaging by letting me know she was in front of Gallardo’s store but she wasn’t seeing me. She didn’t decoding the message correctly because she assumed that I meant Gallardo’s Hardware when in reality I meant the Gallardo’s Gas Station. Unfortunately,
