The Importance Of Ghosts In Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol

The darkness of dawn, the time which was said to be when the final ghost, the ghost of Christmas yet to come, was to appear. The clock struck twelve and the hooded phantom hovered towards Scrooge, ready to show him the shadows of the future. If you’ve read Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, you would know that Scrooge at this point, while engulfed in fear, is willing to follow the final ghost and have him lead on to view the Christmas yet to come. With that said, while the ghost of Christmas yet to come had visited Scrooge at a time where he began to recognize his wrongs, he was needed to show Scrooge the lack of emotion shown by various people so he can truly realize the errors of his ways. The ghost does this by remaining mysterious and mute, showing the reactions to Tiny Tim’s death and by revealing the man deceased man was Scrooge himself. With these facts known, it’s quite clear to see why the ghost of Christmas yet to come had the greatest effect on Scrooge when curing him of his wrong doings. As Scrooge witnesses this he and he feels uneasy allowing him to reflect on his actions towards this family and begins to see the emotion of other people. The ghost showed him this to see the contrast between how the man who died was treated when compared to Tiny Tim, who had many mourners who felt emotional about his death.
