The Importance Of FFA

FFA members why are we here? The very well known Tap of the gavel echos across the stadium, we all rise in unison; “To practice brotherhood, honor agricultural opportunities and responsibilities and develop those qualities of leadership which an FFA member should possess”. The tap of the gavel rings through every FFA member’s ears and all together we sit back in our seats. This is recited at every FFA meeting, convention, banquet, etcetera.
There is definitely a reason why these few words mean so much, and are said at FFA events.
These words have taught me what the true meaning of FFA, and not only that, but my outlook on my everyday life.
The first line of the pledge says “To practice brotherhood” before the FFA I had no clue what brotherhood meant, It was something I had never experienced before. It was not until the fall of 2014 when I got a taste of

Most people think “brotherhood” “ an association, society, or community of people linked by common interest, religion, or trade”. But the FFA brotherhood has so much more to it than common interest. Before I joined the FFA I never had the leadership qualities I needed to be successful, and I would have never tried to develop them. SInce I have joined the FFA my leadership abilities have skyrocketed and have pushed me out of my comfort zone, which I am thankful for now. The FFA allowed me to grow as a person, it is like my second home and my Ag teachers have been there for me through my rough patches and my most successful moments. They have taught me what it means to be a leader, and I could not have asked for anyone better. The FFA members, my peers, have been a major part in my leadership growth, and have been with me from day one, and I hope they continue beside me as we learn and grow our leadership abilities

When I first joined FFA, I had no idea of the impact it would have on me. Funnily enough, I originally thought of it just as a stepping stool into become a veterinarian- obviously plans have changed. And although my original goal and reason for joining has changed, I’m grateful that I did join, because FFA has impacted me in more ways than one. It goes beyond other experiences because as far as an educational experience goes, it has taught me a great deal than I ever expected. FFA has gone beyond just teaching me about cows, plants, and farming, it’s taught me business, life and leadership skills.…

In Adam Braun’s memoir and life guide “The Promise of a Pencil”, the speaker relates his journey of creating Pencils of Promise and the lessons learned along the way. He employs the rhetorical technique of flashback in a way that is both elucidating and memorable, establishing mood of unwitting self-indulgence in a tone that is both austere and sophomoric. Any college worth its salt has a motto, something to aspire to. At FIU it’s “Hope, Knowledge, Opportunity”. While sounding great in Latin, to me it expresses what a university does, not exactly what it's for.…

Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. Overall I have learned that most things in life require constant attention and effort to make them truly work and that anyone you come in contact with and create an influence with will then, in turn, make a larger circle of influence that can quickly become bigger than you can ever be. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

Most know Ronald Reagan best for his acting career and presidency, but not many look back to his past and sees how his leadership roles started early in life; which is where mine starts. Throughout my life, leadership has always been a part of me, I have always strained to help others and try to lead them the right way. Trying my hardest has helped me make a great impact to those around me by showing them what can be done. When I was in eighth grade, a new opportunity was given to my class to take a high school course early, and I decided to be one of the few to go through with it, knowing it would be a lot of work. I started thinking about how this could be a benefit to me.…

My fellow officers and myself worked together to plan an exciting night to educate members of Section 20 about opportunities as well as teach leadership skills. I had the privilege to be the leader in my workshop where members participated in an activity which taught the participants the importance of communication and how to cope with obstacles that can arrive in FFA, school, and life. From holding these positions, I have also assisted at the State Fair by walking in the parade with other members as well as assist in running the FFA barnyard. These allowed me to discuss and inform children and adults about the agriculture industry and FFA. I have gained amazing experiences throughout the FFA…

The position that I see myself taking up in the Theta Tau is Brotherhood Chair. The job of Brotherhood Chair ensures that the brothers of this fraternity can create and strengthen strong bonds of fraternal fellowship. This involves planning and organizing group events that are social, intimate, and fun. However, it is possible to sum these characteristics into one simple, descriptive phrase; distinguished women. “Proud traditions, sparking ambitions.” That was the saying for FFA this past year. While that 4-word phrase may seem just like a catchy phrase or a good theme to have, when we take a step back and examine those 4 words, we realize that it has been vivid throughout our history, in FFA, 4-H, agriculture, and throughout the world. People throughout our history, even though they may not realize it, have been running with this idea. This phrase has been summing up the actions of some of our greatest leaders and helping people change the world every day.…
