The person reporting the study did not seem to have any bias or prejudices and did list the faults or limits of the study. They did not seem to cross the emotional lines or get emotionally close to the participants. The one thing I was concerned with was they used a transcriber in the study. I would probably have made sure to check with the ethics board to follow complete protocol.
They made sure to say the participants did volunteer to be in the study but they said nothing about if they told them why the study was being conducted. It seemed to be evident, but I cannot know for sure.
Part of doing a study is looking at similar studies and sometimes using the materials. The ethics in using others material is properly give credit for the work or others. “Copying extensive material from others is an ethical issue.” (Creswell (2014), p. 100). You never want to ruin the integrity of your study by plagiarizing it. The data that is given by the people also needs to be authenticated and credible.
Having a bias toward someone or a group is wrong in any situation but especially in a study.
