Work ethic and organization is important in their careers and family lives. They seem to evaluate people by what is normal to them and it is important to provide good service to others. These descriptions define me justly, my free time is spent with my family. My husband, kids and I are always together on our days off, we even bought a camper so that we could spend time with our children on the weekends in the summer. My husband and I are very much alike, we share the same interests and goals. Work ethic is very important to me, I firmly believe that if you are not going to do a job to the best of your ability then there is no point in doing it in the first place. Lazy people, which sadly there is a lot in emergency medical services (EMS), is a pet peeve of mine. I strive to be organized and this is imperative with three children, but it is also hard for the same reasons. Good customer service is very essential in EMS, our patients are sick and we need to make them and their families comfortable. We see people on some of the worst days of their lives and need to remain calm. By knowing this you can change the negative elements of your personality with some work. We can do this by using the five guidelines for enriching the self that we learned about in our textbook (2016). I believe that the most important guideline to use would be to make a firm commitment to personal growth (Wood, 2016). This is not always an easy task to accomplish. “You have to invest energy and effort to bring about change” (Wood, 2016, p. 62). After taking the personality test online, it can make you more in tuned with what our personality is and it can help you grow as an individual. Learning that I need to try to be less of a perfectionist and to be less judgmental of people is very significant to me.
