If an individual cannot evaluate a book, then they may not take into account flawed information such as legitimacy of the author. From completing the book review, I have established that although a book may be published, there can be abounding flaws when using the information provided. Before learning how to thoroughly critique a book, I may have failed to take account of the publication date, the experience of the author(s), and the use of references.
For the book review, I sourced Physiology for Nursing Practice by Watson, R and Montague, S (2005). After establishing the book that I wished to assess, I reviewed the chapter on the central nervous system (CNS). The aim of the chapter was to help medical professionals gain a better understanding of the physiology of the central nervous system. The chapter has detailed information on the CNS. Before commencing the review, I had not read the article before but I found the topic area interesting. If I were to research the effects of stress on airway reactions, then I would definitely utilise it. The article was written formally and clearly in a peer reviewed journal. The research was published in 2016 consequently making it up to date. The authors stated that future research will involve larger sample sizes. The study is useful and with further research it can be used as evidence for better understanding stress reactions on asthma sufferers.
