The act and feeling of isolation is part of being sick, therefore making it something that needs to be treated to properly heal the individual. Stanley (2007) offers three forms of isolation and how all these can be alleviated by communities focused on caring. These communities are formed in their understanding of the isolation, an understanding that comes from the stories and narratives of the ill. Stanley (2007) finds it crucial that the voices of women are used to create these caring communities from their narratives. I contend that Stanley (2007) accurately depicts the ways isolation affects the ill and that to cure this alienation, the stories of women are essential to build communities who can heal such
