Every goal has its own obstacles, but higher education is unique because many individuals never finish. The idea of college is marketed everywhere in the United States because of all the amazing benefits. There are several reasons why students would want to finish, but there are obstacles that may be challenging for a recent high school graduate. These barriers aren’t impossible to overcome, but it’s important to understand that it may lead many individuals astray.

Individuals may experience issues with finances during their college journeys. It’s known in the United States that college is very expensive. If an individual is short of money then they have the option of earning a scholarship or borrowing loans. Not everyone may be able to attain these sources. It usually leaves an individual with less options for college and many sacrifices to finish. Many individuals may not have the experience to adapt and thrive in college settings. It’s an important issue that many simply dive right into. It’s a great way for people to learn how to become a young adult, but it can negatively impact some students. Many of the students are around the age of 18 and probably have limited experiences with what it’s like to be in the shoes of an adult. It’s a big transition in a short period of time that may lead students astray. For example, the big transition may cost a decrease in grade point average for some students since they are still adapting to the environment. However, it shouldn’t be seen as the final result because it’s definitely a lifelong lesson that may benefit students in future semesters.
