Our culture is a set of beliefs, practices, and norms. We generally get them from our family and our community. People with different backgrounds, different families, different stories. Even in small town where everybody knows everybody, their are differences. There may seem to even be just one race or ethnicity in the town. The difference between race and ethnicity is that race is usually the color of their skin while ethnicity is about the country of origin. Having these under your tool belt will help you connect with people. Having the knowledge of the culture greatly helps the transition of meeting another culture because you know some of their background. Once we learn about the culture we can begin to interpret the ways they behave. Because you are on the outside you can see what is at first odd to us, then we see the importance of it to the culture.
