If a child entered my classroom I would start off with a plan, highlighting the students achievements/strengths while documenting their weaknesses. First we have to figure out the child’s specific problem, do they like to stand, do they like to jump, what makes them have ADHD and when does it trigger the most. Finding out the trigger and the timing a teacher can make sure that the student has that time open and available for them to express themselves. Depending on the year and the age, a teacher must make sure there is an up-to-date IEP documenting what the child exactly needs such as physical therapy twice a week or occupational therapy five times a week. I would try to provide opportunities for physical activity during and/or prior to instructional tasks like talking a walk with an administrator in the halls before testing.
