What does it feel to have a doctor as a Mother?
Strict? Disciplined? Systematical? These are some words that come to the usual mind when your Mother happens to be a doctor.
In reality, the words that come to my mind is far from the usual stereotype, The feeling I get of assurance brought by having someone in the house practiced in emergency situation is more than anyone can ask for especially when she is the woman I will forever love. A loving mother, her name is Maria Magnolia “Maya” Morante De Guzman, My mother. As I crawl out of my bed and walk down the stairs of our household, I’d notice that the breakfast is on time and a healthy one in fact, containing more than enough nutrients for us to tackle today’s problems. Sometimes it happens that she knows that I’m not feeling good before I feel it. She knows I’ll be catching a cold even before I get it. She’s the type to have plan a through z and be ready for any contingencies. That’s how awesome my mother- Maya is.
Infact, I admire how my mother knows a lot of things, it is to be expected since she’s been working nonstop for 18 years. I’d like to state how my mother always has ready medicines, and always stocks up on vitamins and pharmaceutical tablets. Around 2 times a month I would accompany my mother in purchasing medicines. “Malay mo kaylanganin natin to, dapat laging handa,” she would say.
There was also a time where I fractured my arm running around the house, even though the handsome 7 yearold Adam was shedding painful tears of regret, she kept her cool and fixated my arm using a pbc pipe and 2 lightweight notebooks. As we rushed to the hospital she kept me calm, tight in her arms. After the doctor fixed my arm, I still felt the warmth of my mother looking back 4 hours ago, I knew with her, I was in no

Likewise my Mother, Medical mothers around the world give light and teach their aspiring sons or daughters how to tackle various emergency situations and to keep calm during urgent times. Some would think they would be strict, yes, but at a certain level of safeness, just like any mother, Angelo’s mother and mine only care for our goodwill and safety. “Dam di ako pinayagan ngayun eh baka magkasakit ako, pero ayus lang marami namang next time at delekado nanaman rin ang panahon ngayun ;) “, Angelo stated.
I’ve also been knowledgeable in various things that is and will be a danger to my life brought by my Mom giving me mini lectures through daily circumstances, “Ayan kapag lagi kang nauubo tapos nafifeel mo na medyo masakit sa dibdib sabihin mo kaagad saken para masolusyonan natin, baka nagkakaganyan ganito ka lang.”
Some people would think daily checkups and asking if I’m okay would be irritable, but I grew a fond of her assurance and thoughtfulness, truly my Dad is as a lucky guy as I am. This is why I love my mother wholeheartedly and dreams of becoming a person just like

My gut sank to an unbearable low as I watched my thirty-two-year-old mother require support to limp just five steps to the restroom; cancer stripped her of life. At twelve-years-old, I felt distraught in my inability to save her and return the endless love that my Haitian parents poured into my nurturing. However, the hope the physicians brought us has inspired me to become a doctor so that I, too, can serve as an envoy of hope to sufferers of illness. My father is a physician I strive to be like. Throughout my life, my mother played both roles of a parent: mother and father. Although, this assignment says caregivers, I will base my response primarily towards how my mother raised me and the personality traits. My mother is a very strong, independent, loving, caring, and wonderful spirited lady. She strives to help anyone who is in need, which to me is so amazing. According to Bradbury & Karney (2014), "Most of us recognize implicitly that who we are as human-beings, and presumably as relationship partners, derives from how we were raised and nurtured" (p.222).…

In the field of medical anthropology, biomedicine is more complex than just the science. I will attempt to demonstrate some concepts defining biomedicine using an interview conducted with a previously ill person. The interviewee, with the pseudo name of “Pinky”, is a female in her early 20s. About only a year before arriving in Canada, she was recovering from Pneumonia during a MERS (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome) outbreak in Saudi Arabia. With the help of some of the interview’s anecdotes, I will first analyze how this illness narrative conforms or spills outside of Arthur Kleinman’s concept of disease and illness.…
