Climate Fluctuation Research Paper

Improved Essays
Earth has experienced variations in climate throughout history. Several cycles of glacial advance and retreat (specifically the Permian, Carboniferous, Cambrian and Pre-cambrian glaciations) demonstrate natural climate fluctuation. These fluctuations can be attributed to deviations in the Earth 's orbit; the amount of solar energy received by Earth differing as a result of this. Current temperature trends display an aberrant rate of increase in global lower-atmospheric temperatures. This indicates an (presumably human-induced) escalation in the volume of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are essential in moderation, however, advancements and innovations since the Industrial Revolution (principally those involving …show more content…
A large percentage of the Australian population inhabite coastal regions. Sea level rise occurs due to water expansion as a result of warming water temperature; in addition to this, higher oceanic temperatures lead to the melting of glaciers, ice caps, and polar ice sheets, increasing the rise. As sea levels rise and warm, changes in relative level of seabeds and land occur, causing significant differences in animal/vegetative habitats; this impacts fishing and marine industries, in conjunction with affecting the population residing in coastal areas.
→ Social and international implications:
As the international population becomes more aware of the issue of climate change, Australia is obliged to explore possible emission containment options, as well as limiting the current usage of fossil fuels. Economically, Australia has a strong mining and energy industry, which could be severely impacted through the development of effective, renewable energy sources.

We have five gross patterns of temperatures that are controlled by five factors, altitude, latitude, land-water contrast, and ocean currents as described in (Hess, 2011 McKnight’s Physical Geography: A Landscape Appreciation, New Jersey, pg. 89). The five factors climate patterns that affect Kansas City, Missouri and Bangkok, Thailand, which are a thousand and thousands of miles apart. The latitude has an influence on climate due to the Earth tilt and the changing angle of incoming solar different time of the year. The altitude for both of these places are about the same.…

This allows us to design buildings within which all occupants will be thermally comfortable. The aim of a building, either dwellings or commercial buildings is to offer shelter and a different climate from the world outside . One of the factor to consider to build a favourable place to work or live is the thermal comfort.…

4-1: Describe the association between CO2 and temperature for the past 120+ years. According to figure 4-1, temperature in the past few hundred years has spiked with CO2 levels following closely behind temperature. This spike has remained relatively constant and has yet to see the usual drop as seen in previous time periods. In the second figure given (which depicts the past 120 years specifically), it seems as though CO2 is increasing along with temperature with little to no lag.…

Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of the weather patterns. The changes are lasting for an extended period of time (It could be between a hundred or thousand years). The climate change is cause by both natural and human factors. In human factors, mainly due to the industrial revolution since the human activities, especially in the industrialized process of developed countries caused by economic activities, fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, land-use change and other human-induced greenhouse gas emissions led to a significant increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Between 1906 and 2005, the global temperature increased by 0.74°C.…
