Archaic H. sapiens possessed unique features compared with more modern H. sapiens. In contrast to modern H. sapiens, archaic H. sapiens had a longer, lower skull, a larger browridge, a bigger and more prominent face, a wider nasal aperture, a more projecting occipital bone, larger teeth, and very little, if any, chin. The postcranial bones of archaic H. sapiens were also thicker than modern people’s as well (Larsen, 2011).
