The Hiding Place Analysis

The second section of The Hiding Place paralleled some of the current issues developing in our world that are met with a deep sense of uncertainty and insecurity. What I just read reminded me of the present qualms stressed by many apprehensive people of varying races and beliefs, who are worried, hopeless and anxious regarding the election of our 45th president Donald Trump. Similarly, the Ten Booms and many other people were nervous and uncertain about the sudden invasion of Holland by stringent German forces. While many people cowered or hid, the Ten Booms developed a sense of security amidst a growing state of unrest by praying to the Lord and fully trusting Him to guide them. This is exhibited when Betsie tries to ease an alarmed Corrie after she dreams of her family being taken away from their home following the first bombings in Haarlem: “That’s why He sometimes shows us things, you know- to tell us that this too is in His hands.” While the Ten Boom sisters and their father could have immediately reacted much differently, they instead calmly continued on with their lives as they found peace by connecting with the Lord. …show more content…
Wreaking havoc in major cities throughout America, many citizens have outright opposed the results of the 2016 election instead of finding a peaceful way to handle their emotions. Even though many have come to terms with the outcome of the election in a nonviolent, diplomatic manner, others have not and could definitely use the upright and respectable method demonstrated by the Ten Boom family.
