From the ancient world until the 14th century, pyramids were amongst the tallest buildings in the world (En.wikipedia.org, 2017). The reason for building the pyramids is unknown but historians seem to agree that pyramids were built as a burial site for the pharaohs.
The first pyramid was the pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara (Mark, 2016). This pyramid was built, for the pharaoh of the time, to be used as a tomb. The pyramid was made of mainly stone, as were the other pyramids later built.
