Tom and Daisy are a wealthy couple, but have multiple issues within their marriage, as a result of carelessness. When Daisy gave birth to their daughter, Pammy Tom vanished from the scene. This is expressed when Daisy told Nick Carraway, “It’ll show you how I’ve gotten to feel about – things. Well, she was less than an hour old and Tom was God knows where” …show more content…
Once the couple reaffirmed their feelings for each other in Nick’s house, they were inseparable. Due to the feelings of the past emerging to the surface once again, the couple became careless in their actions, among others. One example of carelessness between the couple is when, The Buchanans, Gatsby, Jordan Backer and Nick all gathered at The Buchanan residence. Gatsby and Daisy began to flirt in front of Tom, which angered him greatly. Once the group decides to head into town, Daisy decided to ride with Gatsby, flaunting her happiness in front of Tom. Once the group arrives to the hotel, a riot between Tom and Gatsby began; this upsets Daisy, making her choose Tom over Gatsby. The carelessness among their relationship was inevitable from the start, Gatsby loved her, but Daisy only wanted the wealth Tom could provide
