-chapter 4:In this chapter Gatsby and Nick go on a little lunch trip to New York and on the way Gatsby is talking about himself and his achievements, which seem unbelievable to Nick. Gatsby has proof for the things he is claiming, but Nick still feels like they are a bit exaggerated. In the chapter we meet Meyer Wolfsheim who is a gambler and goes off on some weird tangents and tells stories to Nick. It seems like Gatsby and Meyer have some business together which could come into play later in the story. Also in this chapter, there is a backstory of how Gatsby and Daisy met and it also explains why she ended up marrying Tom. I really don't like Tom. It is now learned that Gatsby has a love for Daisy Buchanan that has been established for a long time. He bought his mansion in the hopes that maybe Daisy would show up one day, and that he could be closer to her. In my opinion, Gatsby is an outstanding guy like what everyone says about him, that is if he is telling the truth. Chapter five reveals Gatsby's childishness. He is very nervous about seeing Daisy and he has to circuit the house upon her arrival acting like he arrived after her. He pretty much acts like a child when she first gets there and Nick calls him out on it. After Nick leaves it seems like he gains his confidence back and truly starts connecting with Daisy. When he shows her around his house he gazes at her true wonder, and at the end of the chapter he is kind of brought back to reality. This meaning that Daisy really wasn't what he had produced in his mind of her after five years, she was just Daisy, still the Daisy he loved, but not the Daisy he kept perfecting up in his head. Gatsby throws another extravagant party in chapter six knowing that Daisy will be there, but she is with Tom and Gatsby secretly wants Daisy to leave him and marry him back in Louisville. He is upset she doesn't have a great time and then he recalls the first time he kissed her on a night five years ago.
