"awakening" to convert to be Christians. Puritans beleived in the concept of predestination, where God already has a plan and everything that happens is for a reason, good or bad. Edwards wrote this sermon because he wanted people recognize their sins and to repent for the bad things that they have done. It is clearly shown in,"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" that God looks down at us humans, and in His eyes we are seen as puny, and weak, so easily fooled, and manipulated. England to the Americas on the Mayflower, escaping from their persecution back in England. During their hard trip, they beleived even through hard times and suffering, GOd will "dwell among us". The puritans in this sermon looked to faith when they needed it the most and they were able to "resist a thousand of
