He tends to speak in full discourses to address situations rather than speaking in parables as seen in the Synoptic gospels (LTJ, pg. 469). John’s gospel also presents us with information that is not recorded in any other gospel.…

John's relationship with the church during the latter years of his life was a rather turbulent one, which underwent several changes. The turmoil began upon Hubert Walter's death in 1205, when it could not be decided who was going to be the new Archbishop of Canterbury. John’s gospel differs from the three other evangelists. He omits the stories of the last supper, transfiguration, baptism, and nativity, and his gospel begins with the inception of the world. Additionally, his gospel puts a strong emphasis on the theme of Jesus’s divinity rather than healing like Mark’s gospel. John depicts Jesus’s divinity through showcasing Jesus’s works of wonder as well as the seven “I am” statements during of the gospel through instances of Jesus’s turning of water to wine, curing a sick man, and raising a dead man. By choosing to include his miracles and “I AM” statements, it further emphasizes and gives evidence for Jesus being divine.…

But now I see that you need to revisit this”. In writing to two generations of Christian , John was reminding them to the teaching of love that they had understood. To the first generation, he might be reminding them of the extent of the love of God that had been expressed through His liberating act by liberating the Hebrews out of Egypt and made them His own people and of the requirement to love God and people as commanded by the Torah. To the second generation –inclusive of the first generation as well- he might be reminding them of the good news provided through the suffering of Jesus Christ who bore their sin and gave them eternal life, the good news which started their new lives as Christians a few years ago. They were invited to revisit the love of God as a love which is continuously acted out in real actions.…
