The Gospel Of John 1: 29-34

Decent Essays
In the Gospel John 1:29-34, a certain thing stands out to me. This particular thing is unusual because of the uniqueness of John the Baptist. From this Gospel, I picked up the message of being your own person. John wasn't afraid to be different and he didn't care what others thought about him. Despite the judgement that he knew he would get, he followed through with his baptism. He risked many things and put his faith before anything else. In life, we are meant to be different from every other person. I try to always be myself and to never be a copy of another person. Although standing out is a great thing, sometimes it can be a scary thing for a person to do. By choosing to stand out, someone may feel like they will be judged by other people.

One cannot help but love the uniqueness of this gospel. It gives an intriguing, symbolic message to present the story of Jesus. We also encounter Jesus in a way we had never seen prior. He tends to speak in full discourses to address situations rather than speaking in parables as seen in the Synoptic gospels (LTJ, pg. 469). John’s gospel also presents us with information that is not recorded in any other gospel.…

People tend to notice things that are different. If something stands out or is different than the rest, it immediately draws attention, and attention draws scrutiny. By doing something different or simply by naturally standing out, a person is inviting scrutiny and judgement as to whether that difference is a positive or negative thing, or, as Turkish philosopher Mehmet Murat Ildan insightfully and correctly put it, a blessing or a curse. Changes in policy or thinking are often noticeable and inevitably reacted to with either popular support or popular condemnation. When Franklin Roosevelt changed the government’s position towards the economy forever by instituting his “New Deal”, or when Donald Trump decided to change the way we guard our border by erecting a wall, a change was made in the attitude of our government in regards to the welfare and security of America, and they were certainly judged for it.…

The context of John 15 sets the tone and the foundation for Jesus’ dialogue with his disciples. John 15:1-17 is a part of John’s gospel and considered one of the four gospels; in which, the others are called the Synoptic Gospels and include Matthew, Mark and Luke. All four of these gospels are a part of the New Testament. Furthermore, John’s gospel was written sometime between AD 55 and AD 95 (Carson 82) in Ephesus (ESV Study Bible) by John who was a fisherman called by Jesus to follow (Matthew 4:21). Also, John was a Jew from Palestine (Carson 71) and was one of the inner three disciples closest to Jesus (Matthew 17, Mark 5, Mark 14).…

He refused to give into peer pressure and give up on Radio even though the majority was against him. He knew what the right thing to do was, and did it no matter how hard it was. He did not let himself take the easy way out. This attribute can be applied many ways in life. When a fork in the road in life is reached and a path must be chosen between the hard and easy way, obviously the easy path is the most popular choice, even though it may be wrong or go against your morals.…

The Gospel of John portrays the divinity of Jesus. The Gospel of John was written for the world to show that Jesus was the "Son of God." When he was hung on the cross there were several women close enough that Jesus could talk to his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. ‘When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son. ’”(John…

The movie, The Gospel of John, follows just one gospel: The Gospel of John. The Gospel of John (film) follows exactly what the scripture says. When I looked up the movie on Netflix, I found that there are also several versions of the movie to accompany different versions of the Bible, including the New International Version, and the New King James Version. However, even though the narration of the movie follows the scripture directly, there were some scenes that were added in. For example, John is noted for how it does not contain a birth/Christmas story.…

Written primarily for Gentile believers and seekers of roughly 50-85AD (Zondervan NIV Study Bible, p.1756), the purpose of The Gospel of John is clearly stated by its author (presumed to be the apostle John) - “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31). John’s Gospel differs from the Synoptics in form and perspective - but not, of course, in the basic storyline. He is born as prophesied, to much fanfare. John opens with echoing back to Genesis-…

Much of the New Testament is filled with Narratives; narratives of the life of Jesus along with many practical teachings that can be applied to daily life. John 3:1-15 includes a discussion between Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews, and Jesus. This story alone is very practical because Nicodemus is shown coming up to Jesus with many questions that he wants answers to. On the other hand, the book of Ezekiel 37, to which I will be comparing with John 3, is a book of the major prophets. Prophecy is when a prophet, in this case Jesus, is communicating a message that has been sent to Him through God.…
